  • Assembly: Guinea has a unicameral People's National Assembly (AssemblĂ©e Nationale Populaire) with 114 seats.

* KONATE is the interim leader. He replaced Moussa Dadis CAMARA following the attempted assassination of CAMARA on 3 December 2009.

Description of electoral system:

  • The President is elected by absolute majority vote through a two-round system to serve a 5-year term.
  • The Prime Minister is appointed by the President.
  • In the People's National Assembly (AssemblĂ©e Nationale Populaire), 38 members are elected by plurality vote in single-member constituencies to serve 5-year terms and 76 members are elected through a closed-list proportional representation system to serve 5-year terms.***
