  • Assembly: Croatia has a unicameral Assembly (Hrvatski Sabor) with 151 seats.

Description of electoral system:

  • The President is elected by absolute majority vote through a two-round system to serve a 5-year term.
  • Prime Minister is appointed by the president.
  • In the Assembly (Hrvatski Sabor) 151 members are elected through a closed-list proportional representation system to serve 4-year terms. Parties present candidate lists in 12 electoral districts. Districts 1-10 are the domestic electoral districts, and elect a total of 140 members to the Assembly. District 11 elects 3 representatives, and is reserved for the Croatian diaspora. District 12 is reserved for ethnic minorities in Croatia and fills 8 seats. All seats are filled using closed-list proportional representation.
