  • In the Federation Council (Sovet Federatsii) 168 members are appointed to serve 4-year terms*. In the State Duma (Gosudarstvennaya Duma) 450 members are elected by direct popular vote to serve 4-year terms.**

* Members appointed by the top executive and legislative officials in each of the 84 federal administrative units.

** The 450 members of the State Duma are elected by proportional representation from party lists with a minimum of 7% of the national vote to serve 4-year terms.
