The King is a hereditary monarch. They are represented by a Governor-General.

The Prime Minister is appointed by the Governor-General. They must be the leader of the party which commands a majority of support in the House of Assembly.

All 16 members of the Senate are appointed by the Governor-General, 9 on the advice of the Prime Minister, 4 from the Leader of the Opposition, and 3 after consulting both the Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition. Members are appointed to serve a five-year term.

All 41 members of the House of Assembly are directly elected by plurality vote in single-member districts to a 5-year term.
In the last election in 2021, the Progressive Liberal Party won a majority with 32 seats. Voter turnout was 65%.
