General Information

At Stake in this Referendum:  

Voters are headed to the polls to approve a new constitution.  

 

  • Chief of State: Interim President Col. Mamady DOUMBOUYA (since 1 October 2021) 

  • Head of Government: Prime Minister Amadou Oury BAH (since 27 February 2024) 

  • Assembly: unicameral, 81-seat Transitional National Council (Conseil national de transition) 

 

  • The Chief of State took power in a coup that suspended the previous Constitution. The transitional government appointed the Prime Minister. The electoral method for these positions is unclear.  

  • All members of the Transitional National Council are appointed.  

 

This is the first election held by the new, transitional government in Guinea. Previously, the most recent election was held on October 18, 2020 to fill the presidency. Alpha CONDE won 59.5% of the vote and Cellou Dalein DIALLO won 33.5% of the vote. Voter turnout was 79%.
