Description of electoral system:

  • In the National Assembly, 25 members are directly elected in single-seat constituencies by simple majority vote and 9 members are directly elected in single-seat constituencies by proportional representation vote.

Last Election:

  • Elections for the National Assembly were last held on 29 September and 1 October 2011. In this election, the Seychelles People’s Progressive Front won 33 seats while the Popular Democratic Movement took 1 seat. In 2011, all of the opposition parties except the Popular Democratic Movement boycotted the elections.
