Amnesty International report on human rights violations in Greece

July 6, 2012, 2:09 p.m.

In July of 2012, Amnesty International released a report regarding human rights abuses by law enforcement in Greece titled "Police Violence in Greece: Not Just Isolated Incidents." Drawing from individual cases from both before and after the financial crisis, Amnesty International has found that their is evidence of a long line of human rights violations that have occurred at the hands of some members of Greek law enforcement. Although many members of Greek law enforcement do put their lives on the line to protect citizens, more must be done to investigate these cases of brutality. In this report, Amnesty International has made recommendations on how the Greek officials can better handle and stop these human rights abuses.
