Conference report: Caribbean development challenges

In April 2009, the Brookings Institution, Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, Organization of American States, and Manchester Trade Ltd. held a conference in Trinidad and Tobago to discuss trade and financial development, climate change and natural disasters, other security issues, and US relations in the region. The report summarizes panelists' remarks. Commentary on democratization focused mainly on Cuba's enduring relationships in the region and how actors might press the Castro regime about human rights.
