• Assembly: Comoros has a unicameral Assembly of the Union with 33 seats.

Electoral System:

• This election is the first since a referendum in 2018 that changed presidential elections and term limits. Under the new rules, the President is elected in two rounds by absolute majority vote to serve up to two five year terms. The office of the President rotates between Comoros’ three islands every ten years.
• If no candidate wins over 50% of the vote in the first round, a run-off is held. In the first round, voters on the island vote for president; in the second, all three islands vote. This election will consist of candidates from Grand Comore Island.
