  • Assembly: Russia has a bicameral Federalnoye Sobraniye (Federal Assembly) consisting of the Sovet Federatsii (Federation Council) with 170 seats and the Gosudarstvennaya Duma (State Duma) with 450 seats. Members of the Federation Council serve 4-year terms and members of the State Duma serve 5-year terms.

Description of electoral system:

  • In the State Duma, one-half members are directly elected by simple majority vote and one-half members are directly elected by proportional representation vote.
