The International Crisis Group has released the report Nepal’s Constitution (I): Evolution not Revolution. Nepal’s peace process was supposed to draw to a close with the drafting of a new constitution by the Constituent Assembly. The Constituent Assembly was given four years to complete this task, with their term ending on May 27, 2012. Due to a variety of delays and disputes, the Constituent Assembly was unable to complete the task at hand, and Nepal remains without a Constitution. Nepal must decide what the next step will be, and in their report, ICG explores what options are available for Nepal, and what different parties should do in order to ensure a better future for their country.
