The British Academy has recently published a report which discuses the main types of electoral systems being used in the world. The report comes at an auspicious time for the United Kingdom as the nation is currently debating the prospects of numerous electoral reforms, namely, IRV and the direct election of the House of Lords. The report weights the potential implications of each system for key stakeholders. The report can be accessed here.
