The International Republican Institute (IRI) has released the findings from its survey of Moldovan public opinion. The poll, which was conducted September 7 – 21, 2010, asks respondents questions related to the September referendum, the status of Transnistria, faith in institutions, and direction of the country. The survey show some disturbing trends for democratic consolidation in the the struggling nation, as respondents show little interest in politics. Whats more, less Moldovans plan to vote in the upcoming election than in any of the previous parliamentary elections of the past year. This is more than likely a result of the repeated elections that have only led to more stalemates in parliament.
