Dec. 4, 2014, 5:50 p.m.

Located between the Artic and the Atlantic Oceans, Greenland has a population of 57,728 with 40,588 registered voters.[ii] The “snap” election was called due to a scandal in which Prime Minister Aleqa HAMMOND was accused of using “state money to pay for hotels and flights for her family.”[iii] Results have the ruling Siumut (Forward) party winning 34.3 percent of the vote, while opposition Unuit Ataqatigiit (Community of the People) attained 33.2 percent.[iv] Turnout was expected to be high and the two parties are said to be in talks for a coalition government.[v]
