June 20, 2014, 12:12 p.m.

The election for the House of Representatives in Antigua and Barbuda was held on Thursday 12 June 2014, with Prime Minister Baldwin SPENCER’s United Progressive Party (UPP) and Gaston BROWNE’s Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) competing to fill the 17-seat lower house. The UPP has conceded defeat to the ABLP, which in a landslide won 14 of the 17 house seats.[1] While the Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission is still to release official results, it is estimated that over 90 percent of the 47,721 registered voters participated in the election.[2] On Friday, 13 June 2014 BROWNE was officially sworn in as the fourth and youngest Prime Minister of the nation.
