Preliminary results have been released by the National Election Commission in Rwanda for their parliamentary elections. Elections in Rwanda occur over three days; on the first day 53 members are elected by closed-list proportional representation, while on the second day 3 members are elected indirectly to represent youths and disabled persons, and on the third day 24 members are elected indirectly to represent women. In the closed-list proportional election, the Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF) / Front Patriotique Rwandais, led by President Paul KAGAME won an overwhelming victory, receiving 4,439,948 votes (76.22 percent) in the provisional count, which would give it 40 of the 53 directly elected seats. According to the provisional count of votes, 5,881,874 Rwandans (98.8 percent) cast their ballots in the election.
