On Wednesday, September 19th, the Belarussian Foreign Ministry denied visas to two international observers from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). This decision was made a few days before the country’s parliamentary election, further calling into question the relationship between Belarus and the OSCE. Previously, Belarus expelled the OSCE from the country after the political opposition and its supporters protested the December 2010 presidential election results. The government of Belarus maintains that the decision was not politically motivated.
