SNS candidate wins Serbian presidential election

Tomislav NIKOLIC of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) won the second round of Serbia’s presidential election on Sunday. NIKOLIC won 49 percent of the vote, defeating incumbent Boris TADIC of the liberal Democratic Party (DS) who capture 47 percent. NIKOLIC’s party won the most seats in parliamentary elections earlier this month, but TADIC’s Democratic Party will most likely form an alliance with the Socialists that would give them a governing majority.
