Gambia's ruling Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC) party captured 43 of 48 seats in parliamentary elections last Thursday. The APRC only had to contest 23 seats as their candidates ran unopposed in the remaining seats due to a boycott. Four of the five remaining seats went to independent candidates, while one went to a member of the opposition National Reconciliation Party. The leader of the NRP, Hamat BAH, did not win his seat.
