Kazakh President Nursultan NAZARBAYEV’s Nur Otan party on Sunday won 80.7 percent of the vote in parliamentary elections. Two other parties will join Nur Otan in parliament for the first time. This was first election since a 2009 law, which requires at least two parties enter parliament. Previously, Nur Otan held all seats in the legislative body. Under the new law, however, the second-place party is guaranteed to enter parliament even if it does not reach the seven percent threshold normally required to gain seats.
