Taiwan holds general elections

MA Ying-jeou was reelected to a second term as President of Taiwan on Saturday with 51.8% of the vote. MA, who leads the Kuomintang Party, defeated TSAI Ing-wen of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), who finished second with 45.6%, and James SOONG of the People First Party, who captured 2.8%. This was the first time where Taiwan held legislative and presidential elections on the same day.
