Myanmar’s government on Tuesday announced they granted legal status to the country’s main pro-democracy party, The National League for Democracy (NLD). The move clears the way for Aung San SUU KYI, who leads the NLD, to run for parliament in the next election. The NLD decided to reregister, after boycotting the 2010 elections, which it believed were rigged. The Myanmar government has not announced a formal date for the election.
