Women remain underrepresented in almost every parliament in the world. Furthermore, women inside parliament often face institutional hurdles, which prevent them from wielding the same influence as their male counterparts. Strengthening cross-party cooperation among female parliamentarians will create more public policy favorable to women, as well as help women obtain influence within government. To help achieve this goal, NDI and International IDEA have released a new guidebook, One Size Does Not Fit All: Lessons Learned from Legislative Gender Commissions and Caucuses. The guide explores methods to develop the participation of women in cross-party legislative venues, and describes best practices related to gender commissions and caucuses.
